Meet the Founder
I have been officially beekeeping since Fall of 2019. It started with an interest in bees that has morphed into a fascination and a genuine passion for them! I dedicate hours every weekend into making sure all my hives are happy, healthy, and well cared for. In the winter months, I ensure they never run out of food stores, remain safe, and spend numerous hours repairing their hive boxes and equipment to ensure they have safe and sturdy homes.
My overall love of animals has been a large part of my personality my entire life. I spent several years working in various animal husbandry positions including small animal, exotic animal, large animal, farm animal, and wild life care. I then spent 4 years working in Large Animal/Farm Animal medicine (while completing my Bachelor's Degree in Biology at Virginia Tech) followed by 3 years in Small Animal Medicine. My dream was to become a Veterinarian, but rising college costs and other life occurrences led me in a different direction; however, the love of animals has remained!
Aside from the bees, I also currently have Chickens and Ducks - I won't get into the non-farm animals here ;). They are lovely little fluff butts that carry a ton of sass and personality! I also raise wild butterflies throughout the Spring, Summer, and Fall! I am frequented by beautiful Giant Swallowtails that just take my breath away.
I also thoroughly enjoy gardening both flowers as well as produce crops. I squeeze as much as I can into the space I have and would surround myself with plants if I could!
The long term goal is to eventually run a homestead farm containing farming crops, flower meadows, dairy cows, wool sheep, and various rescued animals. One day I'd also love to expand my Apiary to over 100 hives!
